Trust is great...But transparency is better!

Without a doubt the most valuable moving assets are people. That said they are also the least predictable and the main cause of incidents. Of course the value of every individual is the same but in the industry there is an additional difference between workers. On the one hand there is the company’s own staff and on the other hand there are the contracting companies. Although client and contractor have a mutual goal, the contract is always made on an existing underlying conflict of interest.
Therefore I dare to state: Trust is great, but transparency is better. Simply because transparency supports/creates trust and avoids conflict, and only trust does not create transparency nor does it avoid conflict.
Anyone who opposes transparency in a working industrial environment is a person I would like to talk to, but he should know that transparency is not a “trust-enemy”
Being able to track and trace all individual movement on your premises will help you improve transparency, safety and efficiency. Together this will boil down to a commercial result and it will assist in staying safe and ahead of the competition.
Safety:
• Connect a Permit to Work to a geofence. If a contractor is in the wrong area an alarm can be send out to the control room.
• During an evacuation we know and show exactly where every individual is located, this will help the responsible people and emergency services.
• All data is stored and can be played back, this will improve root cause analysis on incidents and that will help prevention in the future.

Efficiency through statistics:
• Easy accessible statistics present overviews of all working hours specified from contracting companies and individuals to area’s and work zones. One can set filters and easily check incoming invoices to working hours.
• Even in the case of a “lumpsum” or “unit rate” contract the generated data is valuable. Now the company and the contracting company can generate highly accurate benchmarks on jobs, unit rates and projects. Exceeding or staying well below the calculated hours are for both companies not desirable while transparency is.
